asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what was the balance of trade in manufactures for 1985.

In 1985 trade in manufactures on a balance of payments basis is provisionally estimated to have been in deficit by £3.1 billion: an improvement of £0.7 billion compared with 1984.
