HC Deb 12 December 1986 vol 107 c238W
Mr. George Robertson

asked the Prime Minister if she will make a statement regarding the export from Britain of syncrolift equipment to Libya.

The Prime Minister

Syncrolift systems are widely used throughout the world by port authorities in place of conventional dry dock facilities. They are used to lift vessels from the water to the ground level of a shipyard. It is not military equipment and is not subject to export licensing under the Export of Goods (Control) Order 1985. There is no ban on the export of non-military goods to Libya.
