HC Deb 12 December 1986 vol 107 c263W
Miss Boothroyd

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what information he has as to which United Kingdom standards are regarded as being equivalent (a) to the European standard and (b) to the West German standard for the purposes of supplying non-military electrical equipment to British Army of the Rhine installations.

Mr. Chope

I have been asked to reply.

Contracts in Germany for the supply of non-military electrical equipment are placed on our behalf by the German construction administration under the terms of the NATO status of forces agreement. The contract instructions conform to German law and state that standard trade terminology should be used to specify the services; relevant (DIN) standards can be quoted. In practice DIN or VDE standards are quoted.
