HL Deb 09 December 1986 vol 482 c1138WA
Lord Hlylton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they are prepared to contribute to the legal expenses properly incurred by Mr. John Stalker, Deputy Chief Constable of Manchester, in defending his good name and reputation.

The Earl of Caithness

The decision whether to meet Mr. Stalker's legal expenses was a matter within the discretion of the Greater Manchester Police Authority. It would not be appropriate for Her Majesty's Government to intervene.
