Between 1984 and 1985 the number of in-patient cases treated increased from 21,814 to 22,044 at the Whittington hospital and increased from 5,467 to 6,042 at the Royal Northern hospital. The number of in-patient624W cases treated per available bed increased from 29.3 to 33.6 at the Whittington hospital and increased from 30·5 to 35.1 at the Royal Northern hospital.
