HC Deb 21 April 1986 vol 96 c5W
Mr. Peter Bruinvels

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether, in considering proposals for school closures or reorganisation, he will take into account the extent to which schools affected have suffered disruption by teachers in dispute with their employers.

Mr. Dunn

The initiative for proposing school closures rests with local education authorities. Where such proposals come to him for decision, the Secretary of State seeks to take account of all, and only, the relevant factors, with a view to deciding proposals on their merits.
