§ Mr. Nellistasked the Paymaster General what percentage of youth training scheme leavers in (a) Coventry and (b) the west midlands, who left the scheme in each of the months from June 1984 to June 1985, were in (i) full-time employment and (ii) part-time employment three months later.
§ Mr. TrippierInformation is not available in the form requested. The Manpower Services Commission's regular surveys of young people leaving youth training scheme programmes do, however, show that of leavers between 1 June 1984 and 31 March 1985, 54 per cent. in the Coventry area of the commission's training division, and 55 per cent. in the commission's Midlands region, were in full-time work at the time of the survey.
Figures for leavers since 1 April 1985 are available on a more comprehensive basis. These show that, of leavers between 1 April 1985 and 31 May 1985, 50 per cent. were in full-time work and 5 per cent. in part-time work in the Coventry local authority district at the time of the survey. In the county of West Midlands, 53 per cent. were in full-time work and 4 per cent. in part-time work.
§ Mrs. Peacockasked the Paymaster General if he will make a statement on the standard of employment status and protection afforded to those on youth training scheme schemes.
§ Mr. TrippierI shall reply to my hon. Friend as soon as possible.
