HC Deb 25 March 1985 vol 76 c45W
Mrs. Renée Short

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what consideration he has given to possible increased work loads on teachers arising from his proposal to introduce the new general certificate of secondary education.

Mr. Dunn

My right hon. Friend is conscious of the need to ensure that the total work load on teachers is reasonable. The general criteria for the GCSE provide accordingly that syllabuses and methods of assessment must not make unreasonable demands on human and financial resources.
