§ Mr. Speedasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will list his Department's estimates of the membership figures for each of the teacher unions represented on the Burnham committee, the date and source of such figures and his estimate of the number of teachers not in a union.
§ Mr. DunnThe Department does not estimate the size of the membership of the teacher unions. Actual figures are supplied by the unions themselves to the Certification Office and these were given in my reply to a question from my hon. Friend the Member for Rugby and Kenilworth (Mr. Pawsey) on 12 February, at column 116. We are not able to estimate the number of teachers not belonging to a union.
