§ Mr. Bidwellasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if Her Majesty's Government will make it their policy not to enter into any further negotiations with the Government of Spain concerning the future of Gibraltar unless Spain ceases to supply arms to Argentina.
§ Mr. RifkindWe continue to make our views on the supply of arms to Argentina known to our allies. Our relations with Spain are friendly as befits fellow members of the North Atlantic Alliance, and states soon to be partners in the European Community. It is in that context, and within the framework of the commitment given to the people of Gibraltar in the preamble to the 1969 Gibraltar constitution, that our discussions with Spain on Gibraltar are being held.
