Mr. Hancock

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) what was the total weekly amount paid in board and lodgings allowances in the city of Portsmouth, during the month of January;

(2) how many people received board and lodgings allowances in the city of Portsmouth during January.

Mr. Whitney

Separate figures are not available for Portsmouth and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he proposes to extend the temporary regulations on payment for board and lodging; and if he will make a statement.

We do not intend to extend the temporary regulations. We shall be laying further regulations shortly.
