Mr. Carter-Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what information is available to him on (a) the number of people who receive hospital treatment for head injuries each year, (b) the number of people who need rehabilitation after head injuries each year and (c) the number of people who receive rehabilitation after head injuries each year.

The estimated number of inpatients treated in National Health Service hospitals in England in 1982 for skull fractures and intracranial injuries was 128,230. Information is not available about how many of these patients needed or received rehabilitation after treatment during the acute phase.
