§ Mr. MellorStaff and inmates have been told that anyone who is concerned that he or she may have been at risk from AIDS should immediately contact either their own doctor or the prison medical officer, as appropriate, for advice on a confidential basis. Wherever necessary, the prison medical officer will refer the case to the local health authority for whatever assistance, including regular health checks, is required.
New inmate receptions at Chelmsford are being asked whether they have AIDS or have been in contact with an AIDS sufferer. Replies which suggest possible contact with AIDS will be thoroughly followed up by the prison medical officer.
