HC Deb 10 July 1985 vol 82 c480W
74. Sir John Biggs-Davison

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he wil list the farmland and other estates of the Greater London council within the Epping Forest district of Essex; what consultations have been, and are being, held about their management after the abolition of the Greater London council; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Macfarlane

My Department does not have comprehensive records of the farmland and other estates owned by the GLC within the Epping Forest district council area, but it is understood its holdings include the Woodredon and Warlies park estates; Debden estate: and land forming part of Hainault country park; but the position is being clarified in relation to individual sites. My right hon. Friend has published two papers of relevance to land owned by the GLC; statement (of November 1984) of decisions on GLC interests in land held under the provisions of the Green Belt (London and Home Counties) Act 1938; and memorandum on the transfer of property, rights and liabilities issued in March 1985.

In both cases he has invited representations from authorities about particular sites.
