(4) when the Greater London council can expect to receive written consent under section 8 of the Local Government (Interim Provisions) Act 1984 for the disposal of 2 Home road, Battersea;

(5) why the Greater London council's application under section 8 of the Local Government (Interim Provisions) Act 1984 to dispose of 95 Battersea Rise took nearly six months to process.

Sir George Young

No application for consent under section 8 has been received in respect of 30A Lee High road or 1A Longley road, Tooting.

Applications in respect of 230A Lee High road and 14 Longley road, Tooting and also 18 to 26 Lee High road, 2 Home road, Battersea and 95 Battersea Rise were received on 15 August 1984. Section 8 consent was given for these by telephone and in writing on 23 August 1984. Following inquiries by the GLC, written consent was reaffirmed in early September and again in respect of 95 Battersea Rise in January 1985.

Mr. Tony Banks

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many consent applications under section 8 of the London Goverment (Interim Provisions) Act 1984 submitted by the Greater London council before 1 September 1984 are still awaiting written consent.

Sir George Young

One. This application was received on 9 August. The GLC was asked on 10 October to provide certain additional information necessary to enable my right hon. Friend to reach a decision. To date no response has been received from the GLC.

Mr. Tony Banks

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what representations he has had from prospective purchasers of properties requiring consent under section 8 of the Local Government (Interim Provisions) Act 1984.

Sir George Young

Numerous representations have been received. In the majority of cases consent had already been given. In others, no application for consent had been received from the local authority concerned.

Mr. Tony Banks

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many consent applications under section 8 of the Local Government (Interim Provisions) Act are still being considered by his Department.

Sir George Young
