Mr. Jackson

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what arrangements he proposes to make for the future chairmanship of the Natural Environment Research Council.

Mr. Brooke

The Department has appointed a firm of consultants, Messrs. John Stork and Partners, to help in the selection of a chairman of the Natural Environment Research Council from 1 October 1985. My right hon. Friend hopes to be in a position to announce the name of the individual concerned in the summer.
