§ Mr. Dalyellasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will make a statement giving conveniently approximate figures as to how many alpha research projects were rejected in 1984 by the Natural Environment Research Council.
§ Mr. BrookeI understand that 157 research grant applications graded alpha were rejected by the Natural Environment Research Council in the calendar year 1984. This represents 58 per cent. of the total number of grant applications (270) which were graded alpha.
