§ Mr. Wallaceasked the Secretary of State for Energy how many employees are currently engaged by the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority on the fast reactor programme.
§ Mr. GoodladI am advised by the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) that as at 31 August this year some 2,300 staff were employed at Dounreay, their principal centre for fast reactor development.
Within the authority overall, in terms of qualified scientific and engineering staff, 715 man-years of effort will be deployed on the fast reactor programme in 1985–86 at Dounreay and at other sites. In addition, more junior technical and other ancillary staff provide support to this and to other UKAEA programmes at these locations.
