HC Deb 11 December 1985 vol 88 c636W
Mr. Thurnham

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what help is currently given to British exporters by British embassies and high commissions abroad.

Mr. Rifkind

Over a third of the front-line staff of nearly 200 British embassies, high commissions and consular offices in 130 countries are engaged in the promotion and protection of Britain's commercial and economic interests overseas. The help and advice they give in support of exporters is outlined in the recently-produced booklet "Ambassadors for Exports", copies of which have been placed in the Library of the House and given a wide distribution to the business community.
