§ Mr. Dobsonasked the Secretary of State for Social Services which of the capital schemes listed in appendix D to his National Health Service annual report 1985 are not in full use.
§ Mr. WhitneyThe cardiac block at the hospital for sick children, Great Ormond street was not brought into use because remedial works became necessary. Of the other 66 capital schemes costing more than £2 million completed between 1979 and the end of 1984 listed in appendix D to the annual report on the National Health Service for 1985, a total of 59 are fully in use. The remainder have elements which have yet to be brought into use, and details are as follows
Queen's Medical Centre Development Phase 3:—166 beds will be brought into use following planned changes in patterns of services elsewhere in district.Queen Mary's—Roehampton—Phase 1:—Commissioning of four theatres is to be completed in January 1986.Southampton General Hospital Phase 5 :—28 Geriatric beds awaiting identification of revenue funds.Derriford DGH Phase 1:—Occupation of the hospital is progressive and will be complete by 1989 following planned changes to the pattern of services elsewhere in district: 270 beds of a total of 570 have been brought into use.New Cross Wolverhampton Wards and Theatres (Nucleus):—10 beds will be opened when problems in recruiting staff are resolved.Stafford DGH Phase 4 Main Hospital:—14 obstetric beds are being converted for use as gynaecology beds because of lack of demand.Royal Liverpool Hospital:—10 beds designated for renal services will be brought into use following changes in overall pattern of services as part of development of regional strategy.
