§ Mr. Thurnhamasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will make a statement about his proposals for the government of schools following the publication of the document, "Better Schools".
§ Mr. Chris PattenThe proposals for the reform of school government set out in chapter 9 of "Better Schools" (Cmnd. 9469) are aimed at re-invigorating governing bodies as a force for good in the life of individual schools. As announced in the Gracious Speech, the necessary legislation will be introduced this Session.
