§ Mr. Ron Daviesasked the Secretary of State for Wales how many farmers in Mid Glamorgan, Gwent and Wales, 231W respectively, will receive exceptional payments pursuant to his statement of 28 November; and what he expects to be the average payment made per application and the maximum payment made on any single application.
§ Mr. Nicholas EdwardsThe estimated numbers of farmers of three hectares and over who can qualify for assistance are as follows:
Number Mid Glamorgan 450 Gwent 430 Wales 6,000 The average payment for these farmers will be of the order of £250. Weather aid will also be provided for occupiers of less than three hectares. No limit is attached to the number of animals on which a farmer may claim.
