HC Deb 02 December 1985 vol 88 c6W
Mrs. Virginia Bottomley

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what assessment the Government have carried out of the implications of global warming for future energy policy.

Mr. Peter Walker

As the Royal Commission on Environmental Pollution pointed out in its tenth report, the effect on the world climate of global warming through increased atmospheric concentrations of certain substances, including CO2, has yet to be established. The implications for energy policy cannot therefore yet be assessed.
