§ Sir John Biggs-Davisonasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what increase there has been in the last decade in the use of motor vehicles by police and other services in the royal parks; and if he will require it to be kept to a minimum for the avoidance of pollution.
§ Mr. Macfarlane[pursuant to his answer, 4 April 1985, c. 760]: 74 motor vehicles are in use by the Royal Parks constabulary and other services in the royal parks in 1985, compared with 79 in 1976.
These numbers exclude vehicles used by the Metropolitan police who are responsible for policing Hyde 116W Park. In addition, 97 items of road registered operational plant, tractors etc. are now used in the royal parks compared with 117 in 1975.
