Mr. Nicholson

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland (1) how many contracts advertised during the 1983–84 financial years, were cancelled after tenders were received; and if he will list them;

(2) how many contracts advertised during the present financial year were cancelled after tenders had been received; and if he will list them.

Financial Year 1983–84 Six contracts were cancelled. They were:

  1. 1. Repairs and alterations to loading/unloading bay at Larne harbour.
  2. 2. Part internal redecoration, Crown buildings, Coleraine.
  3. 3. Temporary building at Ballynafeigh Royal Ulster Constabulary station.
  4. 4. Alterations to kitchen, Limavady Royal Ulster Constabulary station.
  5. 5. Laying of carpet, Churchill house, Belfast.
  6. 481
  7. 6. Supply of black plastic bags for use in all Government Departments.

Financial Year 1984–85 (to date) Three contracts were cancelled. They were:

  1. 1. Landscaping of phase III, Poleglass.
  2. 2. Mastic asphalt patching.
  3. 3. Computer numerically controlled turning centre for use in a Government training centre.
