§ Mr. Tony Banksasked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many supporting statements of rate demands will be published in an individual inner London borough in 1986–87; and if he will indicate which authorities will be responsible for publishing these statements, assuming the implementation of his current proposals for the abolition of the Greater London council.
§ Mr. WaldegraveWe have already announced that the new Inner London education authority will be required to provide certain information direct to ratepayers in respect of its expenditure and precept for 1986–87 and future years. We are discussing with the local authority associations the information which rating authorities will be required to provide to ratepayers with rate demands concerning their own and their other precepting bodies' expenditure, in accordance with section 14 of the Rates Act 1984.
§ Mr. Tony Banksasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list the authorities which in their 1984–85 supporting statements of rate demands did not give details of the total rate change which results from grant changes as suggested in the code of practice on publication on rate demands and supporting information by local authorities.
