HC Deb 29 November 1984 vol 68 c562W
Mr. Winnick

asked the Prime Minister how many letters she has received in the last month about overseas aid; and what is the viewpoint expressed in most of the letters.

The Prime Minister

In the last month I have received about 7,000 such letters. The majority referred to the need for emergency aid in sub-Saharan Africa; many also expressed the hope that the level of the aid programme would not be reduced.
