asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) when the next report of the maternity services advisory committee will be published;

(2) what will be the next task of the maternity services advisory committee.

Mr. John Patten

The maternity services advisory committee's third report is expected early in the new year. We shall be considering then arrangements for its publication, and the question of the committee's future.
