Mr. Donald Stewart

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what was the average weekly income of (a) men and (b) women full-time workers in Scotland as at April expressed in terms of modal range.

Mr. Younger

The modal range (in units of £10) of gross weekly earnings (not affected by absence) in April 1984 was 1204.130 for men (covering 7 per cent. of full-time adult male employees) and £89-£90 for women (covering 13 per cent. of adult female employees).
