§ Mr. Corbyn
asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will describe the data fields of the crime pattern analysis application of the police national computer and which data fields can be used to retrieve data.

§ Mr. Giles Shaw
The data fields consist of details of the offence, its location and date, modus operandi, any property stolen, descriptions of suspects or vehicles and a free text section for any additional information. Data can be retrieved from all the data fields.

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will describe the data fields of the vehicle owners' index of the police national computer and which data fields can be used to retrieve data.

§ Mr. Giles Shaw
The data fields consist of the vehicle registration mark, date of first registration, descriptive details of the vehicle, date of last change of keeper, name and address of the current keeper and indicators which provide additional information of use to the police. Records may be retrieved at any terminal by the vehicle registration mark. If specially requested, searches may also be conducted using descriptive details or the post code.

The data fields consist of the vehicle registration mark, descriptive details of the vehicle, the date and nature of the report, for example that the vehicle has been lost, found, and so on, and a code identifying the police station from which the entry originated. Records may be retrieved at any terminal by the vehicle registration mark. If specially requested, searches may also be conducted using descriptive details or information from any of the other data fields.

The data fields consist of the subject's name and any alias, date and place of birth, Criminal Record Office number and other references, descriptive details, any extra information of which a police officer should be aware, the date of the incident which led to the creation of the record, and the date and time of the last amendment to the record. Records may be retrieved206W by name together with other optional search factors (date of birth, sex, colour and height), or by the Criminal Record Office number.

§ Mr. Giles Shaw
On present plans, the data fields of this application, which will cover both convictions and impending prosecutions, will consist of the following: all entries will include a Criminal Record Office reference number, local references and indications as to whether fingerprints and photographs are held. Data fields relating to convictions will also contain details of "recordable" offences of which the subject was convicted; the court; date of court appearance; sentence(s), and the number of other offences taken into consideration. Data fields relating to impending prosecutions will also contain details of the court; proposed date of the court appearance, and the date on which the subject was charged. Records will be capable of being retrieved either by name and other descriptive details or by the Criminal Record Office reference number.

§ Mr. Giles Shaw
The data fields consist of the subject's name and any alias, descriptive details, any extra information of which a police officer should be aware, Criminal Record Office number and other references, the nature of the entry, for example that the subject is wanted for specific offences, sought for desertion from the armed forces, and so on, details of any offence, the relevant powers of arrest, the date of the incident, the date on which it was reported, the date on which it was entered on the file, and the earliest date on which the case will automatically be removed from the file, together with any additional information which may be relevant. Records may be retrieved by using reference numbers, or by name and descriptive details, or by the type of entry or offence.
