§ Mr. Peter MorrisonThe Manpower Services Commission has contracted on a consultancy basis the services of nine experienced former factory inspectors to assist the regional offices in the appraisal and monitoring of programmes under the youth training scheme by providing specialist guidance on health and safety matters. Their contracts are for one year in each case and their services are available to the commission for a minimum of 75 days and a maximum of 150 days per year. It is not the practice to disclose the terms of consultancy contracts.
§ Ms. Clare Shortasked the Secretary of State for Employment (1) what was the funding originally allocated to the youth training scheme; and by how much it has been reduced;
(2) what was the original number of planned places in the youth training scheme; and by how many they have been reduced;
