§ Mr. McCrindleasked the Secretary of State for Energy what are the essential elements in his policy on energy sources and their development; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Peter Walker[pursuant to his reply, 27 April 1984, c. 623]: I have considered carefully the role of my Department in supporting energy research and development, and have decided that all our Vote-funded R and D should be put under a single budget from 1985–86. The role of the Advisory Council on Research and Development for Fuel and Power will be expanded. This will enable the present arrangements within my Department and ACORD for examining the balance of spending on nuclear and non-nuclear work to be put on a more formal footing and strengthened.
