§ Mr. Steenasked the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) if he will delay a final decision on the planning application by Mrs. P. Kaumis under the Town and Country Planning Act 1971 in relation to demolition of listed buildings in Modbury, Devon, so as to enable an estate of bungalows to be erected, until he has discussed the matter with the hon. Member for South Hams;
332W(2) if he will delay a final decision on the planning application by Mrs. P. Kaumis under the Town and Country Planning Act 1971 in relation to demolition of listed buildings in Modbury, Devon, so as to enable an estate of bungalows to be erected until he has completed his consideration of the recently published district plan issued by the South Hams district council.
§ Mr. MacfarlaneNo. It would be quite improper for my right hon. Friend to delay issuing his decision on the appeal against the refusal of planning permission for the proposed development, in order to allow further time for representations to be made. All aspects of the case, including the fact that a local plan was in preparation, were fully aired at a public local inquiry. The Secretary of State's intention to allow the appeal was announced some time ago; and the formal decision was subject only to an agreement being concluded under section 52 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1971 to overcome certain infrastructure problems. That agreement having been made, the Secretary of State has now issued his formal decision.
