HC Deb 17 May 1984 vol 60 cc216-7W
Mr. Bruce

asked the Secretary of State for Defence (1) what representations have been received by his Department relating to near misses involving military aircraft and helicopters flying from Humberside to southern gasfields;

(2) how many representations have been received by military authorities from civil helicopter operators about near misses and other incidents involving military aircraft and civil helicopters.

Mr. Lee

None.

Mr. Bruce

asked the Secretary of State for Defence on how many occasions in the last three years military authorities have held formal discussions with helicopter operators and civil air traffic control on ways of improving the separation of military aircraft and civilian helicopters; and what was the date of the last such meeting.

Mr. Lee

A variety of forums exists for the exchange of views, both formal and informal, on this subject, and numerous discussions have taken place. The last such formal meeting — of the National Air Traffic Management Advisory Committee—was held in April.
