HC Deb 17 May 1984 vol 60 c216W
Mr. Bruce

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will consider ways of enabling the Royal Air Force liaison officer assigned to civil air traffic control during a military exercise to intervene in the event of a potential near miss developing.

Mr. Lee

No. The liaison officer's role is to provide co-ordination between civil ATC and military operators. It would be impractical and potentially hazardous for him to attempt to control individual aircraft.
