HC Deb 11 May 1984 vol 59 c494W
Mr. Sackville

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what recent representations he has made to the Government of Iran concerning their treatment of members of the Baha'i faith; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Rifkind

We have on many occasions made clear our deep concern at the treatment of the Baha'is in Iran. We co—sponsored the resolution adopted on 14 March by the United Nations Commission on Human Rights which specifically mentioned the Baha'is in Iran. We shall continue our efforts, together with our partners in the Ten, to convince the Iranian Government of the need to observe internationally accepted standards.
