§ Mr. Corbynasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will list his powers to restrict the political activities of aliens temporarily resident in the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. WaddingtonMy right hon. and learned Friend has no such specific powers and in exercising his powers under the immigration Act 1971 he is not generally concerned with a person's political activities, but he may have regard, under paragraph 97 of the immigration rules, 485W to a person's character, conduct or associations in considering whether to permit him to remain in this country.
