§ Mr. Peter Bruinvelsasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will estimate the number of British citizens who travelled to France on day trips without a passport in each of the past five years.
§ Mr. WaddingtonThe Home Office does not have information on which to base reliable estimates of British citizens making trips to France on no-passport excursion cards over the last five years. I understand, however, that the General Council of British Shipping estimates that 1.5 million people took advantage of these cards last year, most using them for trips to France.
