§ Mr. Peter Bruinvelsasked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement on the security consequences for the Falkland Islands of the increase in defence capability in Argentina, following its purchase of six submarines.
§ Mr. StanleyOur south Atlantic force levels are kept under continuous review to take account of any changes in the threat to the Falkland Islands. It would not be in the public interest, however, to discuss our assessment of particular threats or the precise nature of our response.
§ Mr. Peter Bruinvelsasked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make representations to the West German Government that they should not sell submarines or other military equipment to Argentina.
§ Mr. LeeThe West German Government are already well aware of our views on the supply to Argentina of equipment which could be used against British forces. Our position has been made clear to them on a number of occasions.
