HC Deb 04 May 1984 vol 59 c247W
Mr. Proctor

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many recommendations from tribunals in cases concerning patients detained in special hospitals and referred to the tribunal under section 66(6) of the Mental Health Act 1959 were under consideration by him on 30 September 1983; and in how many of those cases, where the tribunal's recommendations were other than that the applicant should remain detained in a special hospital, his authority to implement the recommendation is still awaited.

Mr. Mellor

On 30 September 1983 there were 121 such recommendations under consideration in the Home Office. In 83 of those cases where recommendation was other than that the applicant should remain in a special hospital, it has not yet been possible, for a variety of reasons, to reach a final decision.
