§ 9. Mr. John Carlisleasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what capital and other grants have been paid to the private sector of the agricultural industry since the enactment of the Agricultural Marketing Act.
§ Mr. MacGregorIn the financial year 1983–84, the Government provided some £3.8 million to Food from Britain under the terms of the Agricultural Marketing Act 1983. Of this, just over £2 million was used in various joint projects with the agriculture and food industries to improve the marketing of British foodstuffs; the remaining £1.8 million was spent in furtherance of Food from Britain's statutory responsibility for agricultural cooperation. In the same period, grants paid to the non-cooperative sector in England and Wales under the EEC's marketing and processing regulation amounted to some £3.3 million.
