HC Deb 02 May 1984 vol 59 c184W
Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Wales how many places it is planned to have available for training school leavers in Wales for the construction industry for 1984–85; and how this compares with the anticipated demand for such places.

Mr. John Stradling Thomas

Comprehensive statistics about school leaver trainees in the construction industry are not available. I am, however, informed by the Manpower Services Commission that it plans to have 2,862 youth training scheme places within the construction industry in 1984–85, a figure which reflects its assessments of the level of demand and the prospects for trainees of employment at the end of the programme.
