§ Mr. David MitchellThe BR Board commissioned Coopers and Lybrand to undertake a study of the potential for converting some railway routes into roads. Its cost was £50,000. The board set up a steering committee of three to oversee this study and published a summary of its conclusions. BR paid no fees to the committee (although one member is paid as a part-time member of the board). The costs of supporting the steering committee and providing information have not been separately identified.
