Mr. Terry Fields

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs when he or members of his Department last met representatives of the Uruguayan, Brazilian and Chilean Governments; whom they met; and what was the outcome of these meetings.

We maintain normal relations with Brazil, Chile and Uruguay. My right hon. and learned Friend and members of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office are, in consequence, in regular contact with the representatives of these Governments on a range of bilateral and multilateral issues.

Mr. Whitney

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office has no regular contact with representatives of foreign armed forces. Such contacts take place on a service-to-service basis.
