HC Deb 26 March 1984 vol 57 c31W
23. Mr. Alex Carlile

asked the Secrerary of State for Wales if he will make a statement on the common agricultural policy price proposals as they affect Welsh farmers.

Mr. Nicholas Edwards

My right hon. Friend the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food is representing the United Kingdom at this moment at an EC Council of Agriculture Ministers Meeting to discuss the CAP price proposals for 1984–85 in a further attempt to reach a settlement. The Government's objective is to secure a settlement that curbs the mounting costs of CAP while ensuring an outcome that is fair to farmers in Wales as in other parts of the United Kingdom.
