asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will publish the amount and isotopic composition of all the plutonium produced by the South of Scotland electricity board's nuclear stations each year from 1971–72.

My hon. Friend the Under-Secretary of State for Energy, in answer to my hon. Friend the Member for Erewash (Mr. Rost) on 27 July 1983, at column439 gave the rates of plutonium production and ranges of isotopic composition of plutonium produced in the fuel of the electricity generating boards' reactors when operating under typical current or design conditions. I understand that extensive detailed calculations would be required to produce the further information in the form requested.
