HC Deb 21 March 1984 vol 56 c454W
23. Mr. Thurnham

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what steps he is taking to reduce the waiting time for entry clearance interviews in the New Commonwealth and Pakistan.

Mr. Whitney

As my hon. Friend the Minister of State, Home Department told the House on 5 March, the waiting time for family interviews has already been reduced. We nevertheless keep the position under review. Officials from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the Home Office have just returned from a tour of the Subcontinent where they were looking into our immigration procedures and advising on the application of the immigration rules.
