asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is his policy towards grant-aiding any flood prevention works in respect of the River Cart which may be carried out by Strathclyde regional council.

Exchequer grant is payable towards the cost of approved schemes carried out under the Flood Prevention (Scotland) Act 1961 for the prevention or migration of flooding of non-agricultural land.
