Notes: (1) Comparable statistics for 1974 are not available as Education and Library Boards took over responsibility for the local administration of education services from October 1973.

(2) The 1974 and 1978 figures are calculated on the basis of full-time pupils and teachers only; the 1983 figures take account of part-time pupils and teachers and are therefore not directly comparable.

There are no technical schools, and comparable information is not available in relation to further education colleges.
