HC Deb 13 March 1984 vol 56 c126W
36. Mr. Greenway

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement about Army training in the Arctic regions.

Mr. Stanley

British Army training in Arctic regions is carried out in Norway in the winter and is of great value. This winter approximately 1,800 army personnel drawn principally from the United Kingdom contingent to Ace Mobile Force (Land) have been training in Norway, along with approximately 3,750 Royal Marine Commandos and their support units who form part of the United Kingdom/ Netherlands amphibious force.
